Volleyball women’s world cup Championship, Carol scores nine block points as the South Americans deny the hosts a chance to advance to the quarterfinals. On Friday in Rotterdam, Brazil, the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Ranking leaders, ruined the Netherlands’ goal of reaching the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup Championship. On the brink of sealing their own position in the tournament’s next round, the South Americans defeated the Dutch in three sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-20), ending the hosts’ hope of finishing among the top eight national teams in the event’s 19th edition.

Volleyball TV will broadcast all FIVB Volleyball Volleyball Women’s World Cup Championship 2022 matches live. Brazil accomplished a significant milestone in the World Championship when they defeated the Dutch, claiming their 100th victory in the competition since their first participation in 1956. So far, they have played 149 matches. Brazil’s prowess at the net proved decisive, as the South Americans outscored the Dutch by large margins in both kills (43 to 29) and blocks (17 to eight), more than compensating for the European edge in aces (six to four) and opponent faults (15 to 11).
“We showed a lot of strength today,” Tainara Santos, who scored eight points, said (six kills, two blocks at the Volleyball Women’s World Cup). “When we play together, we play our best. We overcome the tough periods as a team, and the game simply flows. We studied their game before the game and did an excellent job of making the necessary modifications.”
Throughout the game, the Brazilian block hampered the Dutch offense.

Gabriela ‘Gabi’ Guimaraes and Ana Carolina ‘Carol’ da Silva, both Olympic silver medalists in Tokyo, guided Brazil to victory in Rotterdam in the Volleyball Women’s World Cup. While the team captain and outside hitter led all scorers with 19 points (18 kills, one ace), the powerful middle blocker led all scorers with nine blocks to go with six kills in her 15-point effort. Carol, the tournament’s best blocker, currently has 38 points in blocks.
“Our crew did an amazing job tonight,” Carol said. “The Dutch are tremendously big and muscular, and playing against them is quite tough at the Volleyball Women’s World Cup.” We prepared really well, and I am quite pleased of my staff. The stadium was crowded, and everyone was cheering for the Netherlands, yet I feel at home here as well.”
With 19 points, Gabi was the most productive player on the floor on the Volleyball Women’s World Cup.
Outside hitter Nika Daalderop finished with 11 points (nine kills, one block, and one ace), while middle blocker Juliet Lohuis finished with 10 points (six kills, two blocks, and two aces).
Japan overcame Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-21) earlier on Friday, while reigning Volleyball Nations League and European winners Italy downed Argentina in straight sets as well (25-19, 25-18, 25-17). As a consequence, the Italians currently have seven victories and 22 points, making them the pool’s first team assured a spot in the quarterfinals at the Volleyball Women’s World Cup.
Brazil (seven victories, 20 points), Japan (six wins, 18 points), China (six wins, 17 points), and Belgium are vying for the last three berths (five wins, 15 points). The Netherlands (four victories, 13 points), Puerto Rico (two victories, six points), and Argentina (two victories, five points) are all out.
